what rules/regulations should be changed or taken from the game?
the game could probably made better from changes of the rules, which rules do you think should be changed.
Also, how do you think the knights will go this year? they seem to be under rated every year as one of the wooden spoon contenders and end up in the top 8.

I agree with a 5 min sin bin. It would be used much more often if it was only for 5 mins and would lessen the amount of 1 match suspensions.
Less visits to the video ref. In this I think they should limit the amount of times they can replay the footage and I really don't like when they slow it right down. Slow it to half speed but that's it.
I wouldn't say the Knights are underrated every year but people are very much doing so this year because of the controversies. I really don't think it will impact them that much, might even encourage them more to prove everyone wrong. Maybe scrape into the 8 or at least be in competition for it.

1. Video ref for in goal only.
2. No benefit of the doubt-he scores or he doesn't
3. Agree with Diet Fist, player must be in control of the ball to score.
4. 5 minute sin bin was tried in the past, a waste of time
5. Ban trainers unless player is down and injured
6. Allow players to strip the ball in tackle. Make the ball carrier show some ball control
7 This last definitely will not happen but lets see some intestinal fortitude from referees. If a player infringes in the first minute he gets penalised. If he infringes in last few minutes, it's play on as the referee does not want to be seen to influence the game. If a player deserves to be sent off, send, don't take the easy way out and put it on report.
Knights won't end up with the spoon. Probably 10 or 11.
Edit: Good point Dragonlady. I hate this "John or Steve or Fred don't do that. Rugby does it better with the old fashioned "10, come here" or "five off".
Edit: Why not print off all these answers off and send them to the NRL.

I agree with Diet Fist .. a player should carry the ball over the line to score a try. Not only the fingertip nonsense, but that stupid 'torso rule' should go, never to be heard from again.
And I also agree that the referees shouldn't be miked .. who wants to hear them talking to players? Just get on with it, the man with the whistle is in charge, and the players know what the penalties are for. Stop calling players by their first name too, as though they're the refs' best mates .. get the game back on a professional footing.
Players should be cautioned ONCE ONLY for dissent or repeated offside or head-high tackles, and then off. I don't mind a 5 minute sin-bin for minor infringements, it would work as a time-out to cool a hot head. And the video ref is the bane of the game!!!
I can see the Knights winning more than they lose .. they just have to have self-belief.
Edit : Wish they would read them if we did send them Bill, but you know where their heads are at the moment, and they can't read from there!!

Take away that stupid rule about grounding the ball with the torso. The whole point of scoring the try is to ground it with your hand. The wrist I can maybe understand but the torso is just too damn far!
Also, only let the video ref adjudicate the grounding of the ball. It gets too boring when they look at the same play over and over again for so many different things. The game will be faster and more enjoyable if the ref has to make an on the spot decision about off side, obstruction, player taken out etc....

I would like the video ref to be unable to rule on obstruction just like he can't rule on a forward pass. Too many times you see shockers up there because the video ref cannot see what is a valid obstruction and what is simply poor defense.
Controversies on top of an untried coach is really the big question. Sharks and Roosters were top 4 teams in 08 but controversies cut them down dramatically.

- Attacking player must be in control of the football to score a try. Getting a finger to it is ludicrous.
- No more ref's call. If a decision is referred to the video ref, the video ref must make a decision. Any doubt and benefit of the doubt goes to the attacking team.
- Video ref to only rule on in goal decisions. Touchies and refs to rule on everything else.
Knights will struggle because Rick Stone isn't prepared to give Dureau and Mullen a chance to gel in the halves. The talk of putting Gidley back in the halves can't be doing much for those boys confidence. Additionally, the talk of getting Gidley to play all over the place is ridiculous. If he is so integral to the team, give the boy a job, tell him to stick with it and build the team around him. No more of this hooker/fullback/pivot hybrid garbage. If he's so great in defence, stick him at lock, so he can defend up the middle. Then he can still be a ball player and slot in at dummy half as he likes to. Hilder can then come off the bench or be De Gois's understudy.

With the obstruction rule, if the defensive player purposely runs into the offensive decoy, then it's play on. Unless it's really obvious, then the ref should ignore the obstruction. None of this "You touched me so I get a penalty" crap.
I guess the only problem is that the refs opinion of "really obvious" may change from ref to ref. Either way, as long as the same opinion is used all game, then both teams are affected.

What everyone else said hehe
Well summed up esp obstruction bit from DUDE and Fisty and Mel said.
PLus this fingernail/torso/buttock grounding is obviously a farce. There is benefit of the doubt where they cant see but lets not pretend a finger is having "control" of the ball. If a player did that in regular play it would be called a knock on.

Yea i think the NFL should chang the rule where if a ref call it out of bounds and it is uncertain that if the coach wants to challenge the play he should be able to. I also think the overtime rules should be more like the college football overtime rules.

- Player must have control of the ball to score, scoring with your torso, elbow, etc is stupid!
- Limited amount of times Video Ref can be used, like NFL, Tennis, etc.. Each team has 3-4 views a game so they must use them wisely
-Back too 1 referee, that's the way it should be.
-Less interchanged (maybe 6 or so)
-No penalties for taking out a kicker if it's like 2 seconds late or can't pull out etc.. The rule they have atm is bullshit.
