Can anyone give me any hints on driving the basketball to the hoop?

i have pretty good ball handling, but when there are people defending at the hoop i can never drive it through them get the shot in , any tips would be appreciated. Cheers

Update:

im about 185 cm (near 6 foot 2), good ball handling,

run 100m in about 13 secs, so not too slow,

good shooter, not a great jumper

Ok so your 5'9 and you play the 3, start from the halfcourt and keep driving to the basketball, once you get use to the left hand play with someone whos taller or better than you and play hard because thats how you improve your game by playing people who are better than you.

A lot a variables: it depends on a combination of vertical leap, your height, your girth, your speed, your pain threshold, and especially your athletic perception and vision.

You can be large, small, fast or slow, short or tall, and such but you'll have to know yourself and your abilities and limitations and pull them together, learning how you must get to the hoop.

well..just drive it in & right before you get to the defenders pull up for a jump shot instead of going all the way.! i have a teamate that scores about 14 points a game just doing that.!
