News out yesterday claims Obama Stimulus created 1 to 2.1 million jobs. Was it worth it?

"A new government analysis says the stimulus act funded between 1 million and 2.1 million jobs as of December.......The Congressional Budget Office on Tuesday said the $862 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, signed a little more than a year ago, was responsible for lowering the unemployment rate by between 0.5 percent and 1.1 percent in the final three months of 2009"

If we say it was 2.1 million jobs that means $410,000 was spent to create each job!

The key is where these jobs, if they were, created. From what I hear they were SAVED not created in keeping teachers employed, (teachers union benefits), and a vast majority were hired in the governmental sector (government employees union benefits). Another large sector are part time census workers who will work long enough to gain unemployment benefits and then will be back on the unemployment roles.

If the administration were really serious about lowering the unemployment numbers they should be doing things to encourage small business to stay in business and/or begin new businesses. To date I do not see this happening. Where are the tax breaks; where is the ability to gain new low cost loans? Until we get small businesses growing we will continue to have high employment figures. This is not a large manufacturing country anymore, we have transferred that to China. So we need to concentrate on small businesses.

Growing the size of the govt is not stimulus. I swear these guys are goons. They could have given people 100 thousand dollars to save their homes and pay their bills and it would have cost us less. What dopes!

I've noticed that figure too. I bet those 2.1 million people would have preferred the $410k in cash.
