Terrible fear of spiders. I'm going completely insane.?

I have a crippling fear of spiders. I cant even go into I room that I've seen a web or a spider in. When ever I go anywhere I am convinced that there are spiders everywhere. I've tried to ignore it but it gets me so sketchy. Sometimes I can feel the crawling on me when they're not and at night I can feel them crawling on the walls and they're everywhere. Please help, I don't feel like I can take it anymore. What's wrong with me and what can I do?

You have arachnaphobia (fear of spiders) and a severe form of it too. I am afraid of spiders but not to that extent. Behavioral/ Cognitive change therapy will help you overcome this fear. What they do is slowly, in a controlled environment introduce you to a spider. At first maybe just see a pic of a spider, ask you a bunch of questions and ease slowly through this process until you are looking at a real spider in a glass cage. By the end of the therapy sessions you should be able to hold one. Then by the very end, have no fear whatsoever. It does work.

There are support groups that help you to get over the fear of spiders and zoos that keep tarantulas can help. The first steps is to think back to what caused the fear, the trigger. Once you have the trigger move forward from that. One bit of advice would be to do this all under professional help because if you try thinks your self you could end up putting your self in harms way.

Arachnaphobia (fear of spiders) isn't uncommon, but you seem to have a slightly higher level of severity case. I know that people get sick of "go to the therapist or psychiatrist" answers, but if it's crippling your life, it might be able to be classified as a disorder and going to a mental health professional may be the next step. Sometimes you can't fight these things yourself.

Lay off the "magic mushrooms"...spiders want nothing to do with you and they know you can squash them. Plus, without spiders the world would be infested with freaking mosquitoes and I HATE freaking mosquitoes...bastards.

So, learn to love your "enemy" and maybe you should go out and buy a pet Tarantula and have it in an aquarium or something...it's called aversion therapy, look it up.

    peace,

I'ld try hypnosis. Nothing is wrong with you, a lot of people have extreme fears and get help for it. Google local hypnotherapists and get a consultation to see if it will work for you.

Lay off the drugs. I think your fear of spiders is legitimate, but now you sound like you are way to messed up.....Just lay there and let it wear off......night sweetie...ooxxx
