Are there a lot of people that have to give up their pets b/c of this piece of crap economy?

How do they deal w/ this tragic loss? I know someday I will have to say goodbye to my cats, as they will die someday, but giving them up? I might have to and it's killing me inside.

Some pets are being passed to friends/relatives to take care of "temorarily" until people can get back on their feet. There are alot of pets that have been surrendered to the local shelters. Many others have simply been let go "free" (dogs, cats, even horses!), people are moving and leaving the pets behind in the houses, pets are being tossed in dumpsters and they are suffering other horrible circumstances as people can't afford to keep them. (We've heard of many pet owners that are living in their cars with their multiple pets.) It's horrible. Many who are having to give up their pets have computer access---we started a blog about finding "free money on-line", money that could help with those pet expenses. Coupons for pet food, cat litter can be gotten from Ebay which offer a substantial savings on pet foods/cat litter/treats when bought especially if items are on sale. Some Salvation Army's have programs set up to help people with free pet food (your local Humane So. would know about that). We hope so much that you will be able to keep your cats.
