The single, most important characteristic that separates a friend from a best friend is that the best friend will always stand by you no matter what. He or she might disagree with you, but will never leave you because of a little argument.

I don't think you can describe something like that in simple terms. To have someone as your best friend means that you two think alike, have very similar tastes in fashion, music, etc...
