If I make some long johns from doughnut dougn, can I bake them instead of frying them. How would they turn out?

Also, what can I use to insert a fillling into them.

    Lower in fat, they would look more like a hot dog bun, and you slice them half way through and pipe in the cream, real or artificial, even mix a bit of custard in to make in more like a bavarian, then dust them with powdered sugar.

    Yes you can bake them ! I am also concerned with all the frying being done as it is so unhealthy .Let them rise a little while before you begin the baking proces . Just generously spray them with and good cooking spray before baking . Sprays like canola or safflower would be great , but not olive .

    As for insertion of your custard or cream ; what you need is to go to a flea market or a store and purchase one of those plastic squeeze bottles for mustard like you used to see on tables in restaurant's . The mustard ones work the best Just cut some of the end off to widen the opening .

    no they wont turn out you will have to fry those, the oil will make them rise , if you where to bake them they would be dry and just like bread .
