The bouncer took my LEGAL ID! WTF Do I do?
OK. I am 18 and the legal age is 19. I was using my legitimate ID that said I was 18, and the bouncer took it.
Is he allowed to?
If so where would he send it?
How the F*ck do I get it back?
(Also he said it will go on my criminal record... true? maybe?)
AND he said he's sending it somewhere.
I forgot what he said.
(mad)
I also hadnt entered the club. so i couldnt be fined.
And he told me to call the cops. But maybe they can charge me for trying to get in?
Im from bc canada
OK. So to my understanding, they are only allowed to hold IDs for up to 24h.
Even thought he said I wouldn`t get it back, I would like to know... I don`t really know what I`d like to know, because the police officer wasnt too helpful last night seeing as my phone died while I was talking with her. Grrr.

Are you a female ?
Go to the police and file a theft report. You need to go with a police investigator to the club and identify to the officer who took your ID card.
This is critical. A few years years ago a bouncer was convicted of murdering a club patron. And there have been other news reports about club personnel being stalkers and murderers. The State of New York passed some laws that now regulate who can be security at nightclubs and bars - background checks are mandantory. I live in Texas, I have no idea what is required here.
You need to find out who the jerk was that took your card, because now he has your information, yet you don't know who he is. That's dangerous.
My suggestion is that you stay away from bars and clubs unless you are traveling with at least two trusted friends, and never drink anything in those places.

Your question is not better than the Osama question. I am sorry I took the time to look.
The answer is that you should have obeyed your country's laws, which apparently you did not. You should have also paid attention to what the security person told you when he took your ID.
Do this- call the club during the day and ask for the manager. Politely explain the situation and find out what happened to your ID card. If you don't get anywhere with that, call the police. I really doubt anything is going on your record without some kind of court action.

No, if you were presenting your own ID, you should have called the police. He had the right to deny you admission but not to take your ID. Someone can only take your ID if they suspect it is not you or they suspect it is fake. Criminal record for what, you didn't do anything illegal. At this point it is probably too late to get your ID back. It will be your word against the bouncer's and if he doesn't admit to taking your ID, nothing will come of it. You certainly won't be charged.

You're out of luck on this one. You said it yourself, the legal age is 19 - you are 18.
If you go back - to try to get it back, you'd likely be talking to a cop. This bouncer gave you a break by taking your ID. He/She most likely won't do anything with your ID, other than maybe cut it.
Get another ID and don't put yourself in another situation where you and the owner of the establishment, (and the bartender) could be fined. Big time!

he cant legally take it if its your legal id. just go back to the club and ask for the manager, or call the club. but you shouldnt have been going to the club if your only 18. the legal drinking age is 19, therefore you wouldnt have been allowed in the club.

Disclaimer: I Am Not A Laywer.
The ID doesn't belong to you, it belongs to the state. The state issues it to you so you can identify yourself. No person has right to withhold the ID card without a judicial order or reasonable suspicion of unlawful conduct.

Call club management. If they don't help call the cops. If they don't help call a lawyer. Bouncers are the absolute scum of the earth. The act like they are gods. People need to start complain more to the police about them.

I don't know about the legality of taking your ID, but if you tried to purchase alcohol underage you could get fined or arrested, I assume the same would apply to a club as well.

Depending on what state you're in you can go to the "Department of Licensing" and provide your birth certificate to them and they will issue you another ID.

He was jacking with you about going on your record. Go back during business hours and ask for your ID back
