It's winter time your ice cream can stay out for a while with out loosing is flavor just like if your power goes out your ice cream will be still safe in your freezer, but it's summer time your refrigerator has to be closed and if your power goes out on you during the summer time and stay off for one days or so you might have to get rid of it and make sure no one in your family eat it because it will make them sick other than that you are good to go. I deal with ice cream a lot, i baby sit and this happens a lot in my house the grand/kids leave the refrigerator door opens or crack most of the time, so i stayed on them about trying to remember to closed the frig door.
