How do I confirm a domain transfer is in my name?

I'm buying an established website, domain & software. After the transaction, how to I can confirm ,without a doubt, that it is my name?

Serious reply's only. You don't have to be rock solid on an answer, as I will take all advice to follow.

The registrant is going through http://domainsbyproxy.com/ so the owners name, mine or theirs, will not show up on the whois data base.

I will go there now & try to sign up. Does that seem the route I should go?

Any additional info on this will be very welcome.

    check samspade.org you should be the registrant.
