    Google it.

Source(s): and if you want free PSN Card Codes, or anything else, I would suggest using Prize Rebel. I thought it was fake, but then I tried it and I wanted to get a $20.00 PSN Card Code, so I gathered up enough points by answering surveys, and I put in a request, and in my email box there was a code for the $20.00 PSN Card. I'm so happy it works. You should try it. Sign up here: http://bit.ly/4xYRN

The "maintenance" response from Sony is complete BS! I have a friend who lives on a farm in Rayville, LA. He has never had internet in his home, because they don't have affordable internet where he lives. Now tell me. How can you have the same error 8001050F for PSN maintenance if you've never downloaded an update or ever been online on the PS3? It's not possible. What really happened is that when the PS3 (slims excluded, you're fine) hit 12:00pm on 2/28/2010, there was some sort of malfunction internally in the PS3. When this hit, all of the people who had the right time and date, had the date reset back to 12/31/1999, which the PS3 can't even go back to. What I'm speculating is that it hit an error in the code that perceives 2010 to be a leap year, and had difficulties transitioning to March 1st. When this happened, something inside the PS3 either fried or malfunctioned. Error 8001050F is a Hardware Failure, not PSN Maintenance. So, Sony can either find some kind of way to fix the malfunction in a update or Sony will lose massive amounts of money on reparations. My other friend lives right down the street from me, and his PS3 works fine, and it's a fatty. I looked at the date on his PS3 and it was 2/27. I'm guessing he set his date back on purpose for a game or he just sets his date and time manually and he set it wrong and never noticed it. Well, his is fine. His brother has the same exact PS3, but had the right time and is now in the same boat and me and the majority of PS3 owners. I'm not saying this can't be fixed with an update, I just think it's highly unlikely and that something inside the PS3's motherboard fried. So, just be prepared to send your PS3 back and argue a lot. I don't know if PS3's not under warranty will be fixed/replaced without some kind of fee, but I'm sure not gonna pay for a screw up that isn't my fault.

    From Sony:

As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today. This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.

We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.

    Errors include:

    * The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.

    * When the user tries to sign-in to the PlayStation Network, the following message appears on the screen; "An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)".

    * When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; "Failed to install trophies. Please exit your game."

    * When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the Internet, the following message appears on the screen; "The current date and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)"

    * Users are not able to playback certain rental video downloaded from the PlayStation Store before the expiration date.

We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.

As mentioned above, Please be advised that the new slim PS3 is not affected with this error. We are doing our best to resolve the issue and do apologize for any inconvenience caused.

For the latest status on this situation please check either the PlayStation blog (blog.us.playstation.com) or PlayStation.com.

One possible fix suggested by some gamers has been a manipulation of the console's battery. Seybold could not confirm to Kotaku that this works and said that opening the PS3's shell would void the machine's warranty.

Everyone i am sorry but this is an internal time and date problem the Ps3 has malfuctioned and will not let you on to the PSN servers and it only affects the older fatter ps3's. There is no way of bypassing it by yourself. Also it is a problem with your trophy downloading and it will make you quit the game. This all started on sunday because of the february 28 to march 1st turnover and it defected the ps3 and it glitched and will not let you online. if you want to read more heres is the site i got most of this information from

Go to google and type in 8001050F playstation error

and then look through all that stuff it explains everything

Sorry to all we are all in a very big delema. As for sony they better get this fixed soon or they are going to loose alot of money on repairs/

I did the same thing. Was playing Socom Confrontation and did a shutdown of the PS3 to watch the Olympic hockey game. Went back to play around 7pm EST and got the 8001050F signed off from PSN. So, it is 8:19pm and just checked and still get the same error. Resetted all my network stuff and everything works, except PSN. I see that a lot of other people have the same problem and Sony appears to be doing NOTHING about it. I think they are making a point so that they can charge to network use.

If you cal Playstation, they're now saying the servers are down due to mantainence.... My brown eye!! Their servers crashed.

#1 They're not dumb enough to do a routine mantainence on one of the busiest nights and busiest times..

#2 There was no announcement of this mantainence

And for god's sake!! Why the hell would they make games that won't work unless you can sign onto PS network anyway?!?!? Not EVERYONE has internet capability!!!! THAT was a dumb move on Sony's part.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I checked the support website and it said the servers were still up o_O. I was getting a bit worried, but you calmed my nerves. Thank you!

    Edit:

    ********READ***********

Sony said that the issue is most likely caused by a bug in the date/time functionality of the PS3. They advise NOT to use your PS3 until this issue is resolved. This means flip that switch behind the console to off if you use a fat PS3.

It is absolutely hilarious how worried everyone is about this. I play MW2 as well but it will be fixed eventually so just take some time away from your video games and watch the Olympics with your family. I realize this may be hard for some people but I have faith in you.
