right click on My Computer and select Properties. Then click on Computer Name tab. Then right at the bottom, click on Chnage and change the name I assume your on a lan with a pc same name

  • Someone, either attached to your modem or router, wirelessly, is using the same admin user name as yours. First, you would have to find that computer and log it off of the admin log in, then log on your computer as the admin, and go to start... control panel.... user accountants... select yours (admin, presumably) and which your name to something else, so you are still the admin, but now you won't encounter this problem in the future. Also, not to alarm you at all, but if someone is logged into your network at the admin, thats not the safest situation to be in... if you know what i mean. My suggestion would be to restart your router, and then quickly log in your computer as the admin, and follow the steps above to take care of this issue. Hope this helps!

  • You're probably on a domain where you have the same computer name on the network. You should change your computer name.

Right click on My Computer icon -> Click on Computer Name Tab -> click on Change button -> type your Computer Name

When you are prompted to restart your PC. You should restart for changes to take effect.

Just go to the control panel, users, and edit the user names so you don't have multiple users withe the same name.

Can you get into safe mode? F8 before it tries to load windows.

Have you tried to add a new user name recently?

it may be a windows error. as long as you can log-in it's fine, but if you went it gone check your keyboard, and regedit codes(if you know what you are doing).
