Hyundai squealing/squeaking on turns & going over road bumps. If not the power steering fluid level. What else?

Hyundai Sonata 2004, about 70,000 miles / POWER STEERING FLUID IS AT MAX

I'm in Illinois where it's quite cold right now, and I have a feeling the temperature is part of the problem here. This started a week ago, and has gotten a little louder since the first time I heard it. Basically the slightest movement of the wheel causes a very loud driver's side squeak. Going over rough spots on a road and speed bumps also cause the noise to occur. It's even audible when you're outside the car. It sounds like something needs lubricating, like something has worn down, but I know nothing about cars. I'd just like to know where exactly the fixing has to be done, what parts are necessary, and how expensive is should be to get done. The price thing is what I'm really wondering about. Does anyone have any ideas???

It sounds like a drive belt is loose or needs to be replaced. This is nothing major and anyone who is mechanically inclined could fix it for you. Good Luck

Be sure to check all fluids, power steering and transmission fluids have to be checked while engine is hot and running.

You are on the right track, but honestly what you are asking cannot be definitively answered on Yahoo! Answers. If it is ONLY happening over bumps, etc. the power steering belt/pump has NOTHING to do with it. It is in the suspension. I lived in IL for 20 years and you are right chances are you have a dry bushing or suspension component, the salt will dry them out. You can TRY spraying every rubber component with a NON-PETROLEUM (oil eats rubber) based lube on the front end before you take it in and they start trying to replace your struts, ball joints, etc. You would have to jack up the front, usually removing the tire helps, and know exactly what to spray first. Do you really want to go through that trouble though? I'd take it to a trusted mechanic and have him do it for a quick-fix, once you get lube on the right spot the noise should go away, at least for now... Mind you a true "squealing" noise would mean a belt, etc. check it by turning the wheel at a dead stop, your info is a little conflicting...

I'm not sure, I have an Elantra 1999...You might want to have someone check the power steering belt?

    Good Luck

try lubricating spray on all rubber bushings, also make sure front end is greased.
