If you just had to destroy the brain. I would use a simple 22LR. And a 12 gauge shotgun for emergency situations. A 22 is light, you can literally carry thousands of rounds. You will most likely be on foot so it would be easy to carry. A hollow point 22 CCI stinger round is extremely deadly. The shotgun would get me out of jams when I was being overwhelmed.
