Man I'm so sick of Dirk being compared to lesser players who miss tons of games and don't impact the game anywhere near the way that Dirk does with until now only Josh Howard as his only real help(SF)(no true SG-Terry or Center- Dampier) You can't win a championship without a true SG or center Kobe had shaq putting up 29 points,13.7 rebounds and 2.5 blocks D-Wade had shaq putting up 20-10-2 Dirk had Dampier putting up a stellar 5.7 points and 7.8 and 1.3 blocks (lol) Dirk has only missed 32 games in 12 years!!!!!! less than 3 per year
( Kobe 109 last 12 seasons) (wade 102 in 7 seasons) (mello 60 in 7 seasons bosh 59 in 6 seasons) Talent means nothing if its not on the court helping your team win.
Dirk is the best player in the NBA and here is why:
Since dirk entered the starting lineup the mavs have made the playoffs 9 out of 10 seasons he gets double and triple teamed in the playoffs because teams know nobody else will step up. He is a nightmare match up problem and is 1of 5 players to avg.25.5 points and 11 rebounds for a PLAYOFF CAREER and thats 97 games!!!. now tell me dirk ain't CLUTCH the others that avg. @ least 25-11 for a playoff career are Kareem Abdul Jabar, Hakeem Olajuwon, Elgin Baylor and Wilt Chamberlain. Dirk had hit the most game winners since 2005 until this year (Kobe has 4 more all this year).Dirk is one of the most consistent and humble players in the game people.He is the only player in the west to lead his team to the finals w/o a true center!!Dirk's career FG% 47.3 FT%87.7 (Kobe career FG% 45.5 FT% 83.9) I know some will say he hasn't won a championship but I always thought that championships determine how good a TEAM is and not how good an individual player is.NOBODY in the NBA can guard Dirk 1 on 1 which is why he gets double and triple teamed in the playoffs.People say dirk don't play defense but yet he averages 1 STEAL and 1 BLOCK per gm for his 12 year CAREER Dirk is the only player in NBA history to get 150 blocks and threes in a year and the only one besides Bird to get 50 (FG/40 3PT/90 FT%s from the field, three point line and free throw line while getting 24+ points.
Dirk Nowitzki is severely underrated by people because he is a quiet guy and not flashy Dirk's best teammate until now was Josh Howard (LOL)who has been hurt the last 3 years who never played well in the 4th quarter anyway
Dirk's ability to stretch out the defense and create easy shots for his teammates is SEVERELY underrated for example Jason terry's highest fg% with the hawks was 43.6% and with the mavs it was 50% and 46.3% was his lowest jet is scoring the same amount of points as he did as a hawk while playing a full 4 minutes less plus he won 6th man of the year thanks to dirk.now, jason kidd's 3 point % has been around 34% for his career but since joining the mavs its been 46.1% 40.6%,and 42% this year. the mavs give up FOURTEEN -14 more points per 100 possessions with dirk on the bench the raptors are -4 with bosh on the bench cavs -7 James Lakers -8 Kobe Nuggets +3 mello (yes +). I'm sick of him being called a "choker"Dirk would have a ring if he had the team he has now back in the 2006 finals com'on their strongest positions were dallas's weakest positions sg (wade) center (shaq) terry or harris couldn't guard wade and diop or dampeir couldn't guard shaq. Brenden Haywood will end up being the best center in mavs history.Com'on yall Dirk is one of the most EFFICIENT players in the game he only avg.1.9 turnovers per game (bosh 2.1 kobe 3.0 james 3.3 wade 3.7 duncan 2.7 durant 3.1 mello 3.1 cp3 2.6 d12 3.1 KG 2.4 gasol 2.4)its time to give dirk his props. oh yeah dirk has only missed 1(one) 4th quarter/OT free trow all season.
Amre Stoudemire has missed a whopping 135 gms in 8 seasons thats 102 more than Dirk has missed in 12 seasons plus the suns have a fast pace offense. LMAO Dirk not the best player on the mavs why do you think Butler is getting all those open shots Dirk has shot well over 50% the last 5 gms. jamacian man did you see Dirk BLOCK Gerald Wallace's shot and send him to the bench crying like a baby to MJ? lol in a 89-84 win dirk went 27-13-1-2 .while shooting 52% Dirk only has 14 turnovers in the last 18 games

mello has 152 to's in 47 gms Dirk has 107 to's in 59 gms thats 45 fewer to's in while playing 12 more gms!!!! Dirk has 105 fewer to's than LeBron(212) did you guys and girls ever stop to think about how many points the other team scores off those to's?
with 105 less turnovers than 2 players who nearly everyone will says is better than Dirk has saved his team from giving up a maximum of 315 points in just 59 gms compared to LBJ and KD!!!!!!!!! wonder how many fouls that saves how many runs do you think thats saves how much mental pressure that saves??? lets just say that the other teams scores 2 points off HALF of those 105 more to's that LBJ and KD give up compared to Dirk. if you do the math then Dirk has saved his team about 105 points which is about how many points KD and LBJ gave up to the other team i didn't include Kobe or Melo Wade and Bosh cuz they have been injured on the sidelines too many games while Dirk doing work not helping their team win like i said before in my story (that you didn't bother to read) talent means nothing if your not on the floor to help your team win

Dirk is an MVP, hall of fame, superstar player, that took a franchise and put them on his back, and turned them around to 9 straight 50 win/ playoff seasons. Nowitzki makes people around him better. And Prophet, your right about the things he does that are not in a stat sheet. He takes bigmen and lures them away from the basket so that teammates like Terry and Marion can drive without being blocked. He did it to LA when he took Bynum away from the paint.
He is a good post player because he destroyed the Nuggets last year with averages of 34.4ppg, and 11.6 rebounds all in the post. He is the only player besides Bird to average 50% fg, 40%3pt, and 90%FT with 25 points in a year. Only player ever to get 150+ blocks and threes.
He has more dimensions to his game than anyone. If you guard him with a bigman he uses his guard skills to drive past or he shoots where they are not comfortable and if guarded by a small player he post up. He is the only 7 footer than can pass off the dribble in pick and roll situations and can handle the ball from the perimeter.
He is BOTH the bigman and guard.
Kobe needs a Gasol/ Shaq type player for post season success because he needs someone to post up, create double teams, rebound, block, and space the floor. Duncan needs a guard type player like Manu/ Parker because they can create off the dribble and make outside plays.
NOWITZKI DOES ALL THOSE THINGS PEOPLE. Which is why he was able to take a team to the finals in the west with no inside or out player because HE IS BOTH.

Nowitzki in 2006 had ????? (terry and howard are role players, weren't even allstars that year) its all due to his IMPACT. People go by talent, but what the questioner and I am saying is that his IMPACT is unmatched.
He led the NBA in efficiency in 2005-2007 and in the 2009 playoffs. Kobe NEVER did any year. Dirk has the lowest turnover percentage among superstars this decade at only 8.5% of EVERY SINGLE POSSESSION HE HAS EVER HAD. That is absurd.
He is the most impactful, efficient, basketball player on earth.
Durant, Melo, Wade cannot do that.
He revoultionized the power forward postion and paved the way for Okur and Bargnani. He is GREAT!

Firstly, Tim Duncan had an old David Robinson who averages like 14 ppg 7 rpg at center. So don't say Tim had David Robinson.And Manu and Parker are overated, they can however create their own shot. So can Jason Terry and Stackhouse could aswell. It's blasphemes to compare Dirk with Duncan. Duncan's the second best(behind Shaq) player of the decade. when the playoffs came Duncan really came through more then anyone except shaq during the 3peat, Iverson in 01 and Dwade in 06. Duncan had a near quadrople double in one game i think. And Tim Duncan's defense is by far better then any other power forward this decade. Dirk really isn't that good of a defender, averaging at least a block a game at starting power forward or center is (kind of) mandatory. And averaging a steal is common. Dirk's actual post defense really isn't that good. The numbers (on defense) tend to lie sometimes. I'll Give u this, Dirk's the best power forward right now. I creates more mismatches then any other player right now. But there are a lot of guys that could gaurd him. Thing is he's always defended by 6'9, 6'10 PF's and never by guys 6'11 and above like him cause they have to cover the paint. But the few times he's defended by a bigger PF, he seems to not produce quite as well. He's in not the best player in the nba I'm not a LeBron fan, but u can't honestly say Dirk's better then LeBron, kobe, healthy tracy mcgrady, prime Shaq, dwade prime Duncan, prime Garnett, prime Iverson.

He's not the best in the league because Lebron James is an absolute freak but 2nd best you have an excellent argument. He is very underrated for the things he does and people have him twisted mainly because of the media. I wish he could get more credit but that's just how they treat the non-flashy international players.

Dirk isn't even the best player on Dallas anymore man(Caron Butler). I could name off about 15 other guys that are head and shoulders better than Dirk. He isn't even the best player for his position(Bosh, Garnett, Duncan, Stoudemire). Props to you though for getting all those stats rounded up.
