ignition problem with an 85 monte carlo?

for the last few years i didnt need a key to start the car i would just turn the ignition switch..it also will start with the key in the switch..for about the last week i found that i would need to turn the switch farther an harder....... well today it locked up wont turn so i figure i will change the switch...i worked on my own cars most of the times..alternators, belts water pumps and such....is it difficult to change the igmition switch? and will i need special tools?

    1 tool you will need and that,s a steering wheel puller and you might need a set of snap ring pullers.

    The only special tool you need, you have- a brain, and get the info from a repair manual.
