Does anyone work or have worked for a grocery store or a restaurant that throws away food every night?

I'm looking for a company for a research paper that either...

1. Throws away perfectly good food at the end of the shift or night.

2. Won't let employees take home any slightly expired food or day-old paper.

3. Doesn't donate any food to charity

Please list companies you have worked for or still work for and what they do.

Thanks!

I work for Safeway/Vons and we throw away tons of stuff. We are not allowed to sell/buy things that are slightly out of date or day old. The only thing our stores do give out is day old breads. We give a few baskets full every day to the local food bank. Anything else out of date must be tossed. There have been too many issues regarding suits in the past so the company choses to not take anymore chances.

all those points of yours seems sooooo right and the companies all looks soooooo bad.... well, you are right, waste food is bad and all and giving all those perfectly good food to employees seems soooooo logical, but here is the problem,

-what if the food is bad, the company will be sued by the employee

-what if the food is good, the employee will intentionally make the food they want "slightly expired" so that they can take it home

-what if donate to charity, well, the only good thing that come out from donating "slightly expired" good will probably not waste the food, but by doing so the company will receive a bad name of "donating bad food to charity" and effect the overall well being of the company name

so if you are the boss, what will you do??

No, they are not repulsive. Grocery shops do no longer supply out "previous" food, they supply out food that they are not allowed to sell anymore. case in point, I paintings interior the bakery branch of the community food market and we supply out bread to the charities continuously. we are able to in ordinary terms have the bread obtainable on the industry for a million day, and after it truly is as quickly as we supply it away. only through fact we will not sell it anymore would not propose it truly is undesirable, through fact we could desire to furnish the shopper a sensible volume of time as quickly as they purchase it in the previous it does bypass undesirable. it truly is a similar for extraordinarily a lot all different food that a food market can furnish away. Plus, why are you complaining, if people who in many situations would not have food to consume now do through this software?
