does this seem like a scam ? or a f?
You have to know that the 1993 Toyota Camry I am selling is 100% working and great looking, no flaws or dents, no scratches or any kind of damage. The title is clear. It has 78,000 miles, automatic transmission, leather and many options. This vehicle engine runs very very smooth. No electrical problems on this beauty. This detailed vehicle makes the exterior look like it just came off the assembly line. As I know that my current situation is pretty special I want the deal closed only through eBay's Buyer Protection Program in order for you to be 100% protected. You will make the payment to eBay and they will hold the money until you receive the car. ONLY AFTER you receive the car and inspect it (for 10 days) eBay will release the payment to me; in this way we are both protected. Anyway i am sure that if you won`t be satisfied with the car i will surely find another buyer in your area and there will be no need for you to ship the car back. I am located in Athens, Greece and I was sent here to improve the military relationships between our country and Greece. One month ago, my wife moved here with me and brought the car with her, but now we have to sell it back in the United States because we are unable to register this car here because i would have to pay very high import/custom taxes. My final price on it is $ 1150. If you will take it for this price, I am willing to handle the shipping. It will be shipped from here by plane with US Air Military Cargo so it will not cost me anything. You will get it to the nearest airport in your area and then it will be trucked forward to your place. You will receive the car in about 4 days. Please get back to me asap if you decide to buy, and include in your e-mail your full name and address where you want it shipped so I can start the deal with eBay. You will receive all the transaction payment and shipping details from them.

It is a scam! There is no such thing as "eBay's Buyer Protection Program," the only way to be protected by eBay is to allow all auctions to go through to completion. Never stop one if some one asks you to sell to them without the auction.

Its a typical 419 scam, there is no Ebay Buyer Protection plan unless the car is listed on Ebay, you win the auction, and you pay with Paypal. Then if the car was not as described you can return it to the owner and get your money back. Ebay does not hold your money ever. But if this car is listed on any other site or the sale does not go thru the Ebay auction process that you win, then there is NO protection. These car scams are all over the internet, check the Cars board and you'll see this same question is asked 5 times a day
Do not ever buy a car you cannot see in person, test drive, and make sure the seller's identification matches the name on the registration. Many of these cars dont exist at all, especialy if they mention shipping. They could easily find a buyer near them if the car were real and at a good price. If there is a car, always test drive it to make sure it runs, there are stories about people just buying shells of cars with the engine removed. Or thieves sell stolen cars online, you buy it, then find out its stolen when you try to register it in your name, and the police return it to the original owner. Thats why you always have to check to make sure the person selling it is the same name as on the car registration papers.
The US military does not ship private cars by military transport, he is lying right there. Call the US Embassy in Greece who will confirm this person doesn't even exist. There is no reason why they can't register their car in Greece if they are living there legally, especially if he had a govt job.
