I was told my right hip shows signs of degeneration?
I was in a bad car accident in 2005 and my right hip popped out of place. I had it popped back in but it constantly pops in and out of place. My right hip hurts now to the point I basically drag my right foot so i went to a chiropractor yesterday because you get in faster. He took x-rays of my right hip and he said I have the hip of an old lady and I am 29yrs. old. The chiropractor wants me to go 3days a week but I can't afford that. What type of doctor specializes in that area? Should I even go see a specialist for my hip?
I understand that degeneration happens but mine is to the point I am in constant pain, one leg is shorter than the other,I can't jump and I have to drag my leg. I promise all this sin't normal for being 29

IMHO, you should quit the chiropractor for hip treatment. Instead you can do one of two things: You can make an appt. with an orthopedist or a rheumatologist, or (if your insurance requires it) see your primary care doc first who will likely refer you to a specialist such an orthopedist or rheumatologist. Take the chiropractor's xrays with you so they don't have to take more film of your hip.
"Signs of degeneration" usually means that you are developing osteoarthritis in a joint. These signs might include thinning of the cartilage, bone spurs, bone cysts....
As you well know hip joints aren't supposed to "pop in and out of place" and dragging your leg to walk means something is terribly wrong. The pain that you describe is a red flag.

Degeneration is a polite way of telling people they are 'aging'. The Human body hits its peak potential at the age of 25, whereupon it is down hill from there. In other words if you think about a Plant, it starts as a seed, then you see the growth, seedling, then eventually it becomes tall, then if you are lucky it produces a flower, which would be the peak and then the leaves drop off, then it starts to wither and that is the end of the cycle. So at 25 every Human has reached the peak and if we were to x-ray or MRI every Human at 26, we would find signs of degeneration. It is 'normal'. If you want to see a Specialist then see if you can find a Rheumatologist, they deal with joint problems.
