Have you ever had your cat get a buzz cut?

One summer I decided it was so hot that my cat had to be hating the heat, too....especially with his 3 coats of fur. He's a long-haired Maine Coon and very large in size. So I took him to the vet (2 of us to carry him in a large cage...but now I have one on wheels) and the groomer did a "buzz cut" on him and styled him to look like a lion. LOL....he looked so darn cute! He has that big mane around his head to pull it off. I didn't do his tail, though--left that full and fluffy and I didn't want him looking like a poodle.

The groomer said that people who show their cats often bring them in for those buzz cuts. The cat actually loved it! He was running around here all happy and feeling light!

So has anyone else ever done this? For short hair I wouldn't think you'd need to....but THIS cat has mounds of fur!!

Yes!! One of my rescue shelter cats was a Himalayan and it took 1/2 hour a day to an hour to correctly get him bruhed out. I got a gift certificate for X-Mas and got him a Lion Cut - looked fabulous and he didn't seem to mind...

Found his owners and (sniff) gave him back. I had named him Chief Joseph and they said his name was "Kitty" . . . original. He is a red-point Himmy.

I've heard a lot of cats don't like the cut, but he didn't even seem to notice, but was much happier not getting baths once a week, blow-dries and comb-outs with the big greyhound comb. No more "Grrrrrrrs" hee!

My parents did this to their long-haired cat because he would go outside and get covered in burrs and bring ticks in the house even if he was given the flea/tick treatment. I thought he looked a little funny, but I loved how so super-soft he was!

long hair makes you look more nicer and adorable and short hair you look like a little girl.

I used to volunteer at an animal shelter that would buzz all the Persians that came in (and other long haired kitties).

I dont understand what to say but, long tresses is cute but you keep flicking your hair up so you can see, short hair is cool and you dont have to flick your current hair up at all
