Is he lying when he says that he loves me?

he was my best friend and i really liked him... n he said he really liked me too.. lets call him A... but we didnt do anything about it at that coz i was seeing someone that time... lets the person i was seeing B... but then when i broke up with B... i wanted to be with A... but A said some thing like he wanted me not to take any decision in a haste and be mentally stable coz I had just had a break up n i didnt kno what i was talking...

then I thought that he didnt like me anymore... and didnt say anything to him... i made my peace with it and time passed... after some years i decided that I would marry the guy my mother wanted me to marry coz he was nice.... but now A has come back into my life... saying that he still loves me very much.. When i said that i had decided to marry...he said that he was also in a relationship that was going to end very soon... so we both should get together and be with each other without letting anyone know or breaking our current commitments... i refused...

but i wanted to know... do u think that he is lying that he loves me?? we were very very close friends at one time and i always thought that he could never lie to me... my heart tells me its not a lie... my brain tells me hes lying... coz if he did truly love me... he wouldnt tell me to have a relationship with him without breaking my commitment to another man.... please tell me if my heart is right or my brain is rght...
