My breaks are making a funny noise?

Hi I have been ill and had a chest operation and have not driven my car in 6 weeks. I went to drive it today, it starts fine, but the breaks are making like a slushy noise. They seem to work find but don't sound right. Any ideas? It was working perfectly and has not moved.

Update:

Thank you guys, took it for a test spin and all is good. No more noise. Thank you.

The discs will have corroded while it was sitting and the noise will disapear one the rust has worn off which it will do if it is not bad. There is a possiblility that one or more BRAKE callipers have seized and this will require a dismantle and clean up.

Places like Kwik Fit and Standard Tyres will do a free brake check for you.

If the car has been sitting for a while these was probably has rust on the rotors and when you brake you are wearing the rust off that is the noise your hearing. Next time you drive ride the brake for a little while and the rust will come right off.

Quite normal and nothing to worry about. Brake discs are bare steel and develop a fine film of surface rust within hours, sometimes. All it needs is a little damp or wetness on them and they turn orange. It will scrub off quickly with a few applications of the brakes.

    Hope you're feeling better now.

when you don't use the car for a few weeks... the rotors get rust on them. Rotors are as iron as iron gets so they rust up.

NOt to worry. Your brakes will rub the rust off after a few stops. Every thing is fine

Could be rust or dust on brake pads or in the brake drums, give them all a good clean should be ok then, good luck.

It relies upon on what you're stirring!! Tea, soup, macoroni!! purely Kidding...skill steerage fluid being low will reason it to wine somewhat...desire it is not a worse issue than that.

it will be rust on the discs from lack of use it will get better the more you use it,or take it to a garage to have them cleaned up.

the pads probably drawed damp by sitting too long. once they get dryed out they should work better.
