can i turn somebody in to the police?

like dateline crap, somebody told me they have had sex with a 15 year old before.

and he's an old man

if i gather enough detail, can i turn him in?

Update:

it's on myspace... so it is written, and i am still toying with him to get further information... he did say and u quote "i have been with a 15 year old, and i would like to again"

    First. Many people say a lot of junk just for fun, but that doesn't mean is true. Are you sure he's telling the true? Are you sure there is a real crime to report?

    Second. He's and old man NOW, but if he was 15 years old when he had sex with the 15 year old, then there is no crime. So knowing WHEN it happened is important.

    Third. Your world alone is not enough, you need evidence, you need to know WHO was the victim and WHEN and WHERE that "alleged" crime took place.

    Right now all you have is his own story, he will tell police he was just making fun of you and that will be the end of it.

    Better gather more details before doing anything.

    Depends on how long ago it happened and what the age of consent is where it happened.
