If you are caught drunk on a bicycle, can you lose your driving licence?
Hasn't happened, just curious... for example, Andy Powell the Welsh rugby player, lost his for being over the limit driving a golf cart. Specifically for the UK.

It is illegal to be drunk on a bicycle but as a bicycle is not a propelled machine it does not require tax, registration or a licence... therefore they shouldnt be able to put points on your licence.... if you arent driving a vehicle, your licence shouldnt be at risk.

No. You don't need a driving licence to ride a bicycle. You could be charged with being drunk and disorderly or endangering the safety of other road users. Any Powell was driving a motorised vehicle on a motorway. I think golf buggies are not permitted on motorways. Bicycles are also banned. Furthermore he was driving the wrong way on the hard shoulder. I assume you need a driving licence to drive a golf buggy on public highways, hence him losing his licence.

in the given scenario i think your licence would be ok but you could be charged with drunk in charge of a bicycle amongst other things.Where i used to live in the west country i knew a local 'character' who was charged and successfully prosecuted for being drunk in charge of a 5 bar gate, he was riding his bike home after a night on the beer ,stopped in a gateway for a breather and the local bibby nicked him as described, admittedly that was many years ago

No you can't as the law stands.
If you are done for drink driving the charge is 'Driving a motor vehicle whilst unfit through drink or drugs'. So as a bike is not a motor vehicle then you can not loose your licence.

I know in the states (particualarly VA and surrounding areas) you can get a DUI if you are operating anything on wheels (bicycle, golf cart, lawn mower etc.) which can cause you to lose your license.

regrettably, you are able to desire to be prosecuted if caught. you will possibly would desire to be very unlucky to fulfill a policeman who had to breathalyse you. yet once you brought about an twist of fate someway with your drunken cycling, you are able to desire to be in issue. Technically you're under the impression of alcohol in cost of a motor vehicle. This additionally applies to a horse and cart. attempting to argue that the horse in cost won't artwork!

It is illegal to ride a bike on a public road while unfit through drink or drugs & you don't need to have a driving licence to get points or a ban.
