car accident - whos fault?
I had a minor car accident with another car where he was stopped round the corner where cars turn in to the road dropping off people and his door was wide open. I know i had enough gap to go through but all i know is that his door connected with my car.
He is claiming that it is may fault but i think it is his fault because he is not suppose to stop on double yellow line around the corner because it is dangerous and he was causing danger to his passengers he was dropping off.
Who is in the wrong?

I have friends in the insurance industry and the first thing they look at is where your car got hit. This doesn't mean the following is definitive, but it's a guide they use. If the front half of your car got hit--they may put more blame on you whereas if the back half of your car was hit then the blame goes to the other person.

Even if he was causing danger to his passengers that is his problem. You are at fault as he was stationery and you banged into him. You should have stopped until the door was closed or you had more room to pull around him.
The fact that the door was wide open should have made you slow down or stop as someone could have been getting out of the car.

You say the other car was stationary, if this is the case then the accident is down to you.
It does not matter where he was parked or what he was doing, you have a duty of care and as you say you saw his door open and you had enough room to get past him but instead you hit his door. you have admitted you were at fault.
I would contact your insurance company and let them sort it out.

I don't really know, because never been involved in this situation and it's not as straight forward as some you hear.
So best leave it to the insurance company to sort out.

If you mean he had his door opened to traffic, he is at fault. What he or anyone else says or claims, meanns nothing. You should have called the police and your insurance company. They will assign the blame

That's down to the insurance and whether you called the police or had witnesses.
His argument you should have waited.
Your argument the door was opened as you were passing.

Depending on how close to the corner the third party was parked you may be able to claim he was parked illegal. 10 metres is the legal length to leave at a junction. check out 242&243 rules of the highway code.good luck
