What can you tell me about the laproscopic surgery used to diagnose endometriosis. I'm very nervous about it .?

I want to know how long the recovery period is for when I can go back to work, when does it stop hurting and when can you have sex again?

I have had this procedure twice. The first time was 30 years ago; and the second time was in 2002. It is an easy recovery. You may have some slight pain in the lap insertion areas; and depending upon what how much endometriosis they find. Be sure and take a stool softener during your recovery. Your doctor should be filling on FMLA paperwork for you for your estimated return to work. Pain meds will be very valuable during the first few days.

The doctor will tell you when it is OK to have sexual relations.

    Good luck to you.

I had that years ago. Here's some info on it. I have had endometriosis now for over 19 years. What ever you do, don't ever let anyone take your insides over it. It can be controlled with other methods, basically, birth control meds. GOOD LUCK What is laparoscopic surgery Laparoscopic surgery also referred to as minimally invasive surgery describes the performance of surgical procedures with the assistance of a video camera and several thin instruments. During the surgical procedure, small incisions of up to half an inch are made and plastic tubes called ports are placed through these incisions. The camera and the instruments are then introduced through the ports which allow access to the inside of the patient. The camera transmits an image of the organs inside the abdomen onto a television monitor. The surgeon is not able to see directly into the patient without the traditional large incision. The video camera becomes a surgeon’s eyes in laparoscopy surgery, since the surgeon uses the image from the video camera positioned inside the patient’s body to perform the procedure. Benefits of minimally invasive or laparoscopic procedures are less post operative discomfort since the incisions are much smaller quicker recovery times shorter hospital stays earlier return to full activities much smaller scars there may be less internal scarring when the procedures are performed in a minimally invasive fashion compared to standard open surgery.

if they didn't do any actual tissue removal you should recover very quickly. A clue is what kind if any pain medication was prescribed. if none but over the counter meds, you will probably be able to go back to work in two days. start slow with the sex after a few days and stop if anything begins to hurt.
