You could have fractured it, or the root canal could have failed, and you may have an infection. This happened to me one time, and my root canal got infected (you could see the mass in the gum on the X-ray). They had to go in and re-treat the root canal. They cleaned it out and put medicine in it. Ever since then it has been perfect. It sucks because it is like paying to have a root canal done twice. The other option is to have the tooth removed. It depends what you and the dentist think will be best. Good luck!

You should go see a dentist for a check-up. There are a lot of possible reasons for the pain. Its possible the infection came back, you fractured the tooth, your gums are inflamed, etc. The only sure way to find out the cause of the pain is going back to the dentist. Maybe you can take some pain meds for the meantime but you should go see a dentist immediately.

You need to see your dentist. In the meantime- get over to your pharmacy and get some tooth numbing stuff.
