I'm worried about my friend?

my friend keeps on having a dream where she is in a room with a boy and he looks into her eyes then gets killed and she trys to stop it but she cant do anything but stand and watch. she gets really upset about it and for a while refused to go to sleep because she was so worried that she would have the dream. she seems to have it alot and it really upsets her and can really get her down.

im worried because she wants to know why its happening and what it means, as she feels it really does mean something serious. i think that once she has an answer it will make her feel better and be able to move on from it and stop worrying about it.

i hope that someone has an answer and really anything will make a difference , thanks in advance x

Update:

oh, he is sometimes killed by someone else or sometimes commits suiside

and she says that it physically hurts her to think about it

Sounds like a very unpleasant stress/anxiety dream. It could be obvious and mean she's having relationship problems or having problems finding a relationship. It could be some kind of guilt. She believes she's responsible for something. It could be a nightmare associated with stress and using a movie or book for some reason.

The important part is that it isn't real. Dreams are viewed as mental run off and aspects of the subconscious trying to tell us something.

Dreams are not simple to figure out. Ask five random psychiatrists and you will likely get five, or more, explanations for the dream.

Instead of stressing over the dream, suggest she look at what stress in her life could be causing the dream. In all likelihood, it is a stress/anxiety dream. Eliminating stress/anxiety can go a long way toward getting rid of it.
