Which sounds like the better plan?

Our 8 week old daughter can sleep for 6-7 hours overnight. My husband and I are having a dispute and cannot come to an agreement about which of these plans sounds like the better one, so we need help! Here are the scenarios!

1. Put her down at her regular bedtime of 9p.m., wake her up at midnight to feed, and let her sleep until she wakes up again, around 7 a.m. The argument against this one is waking her up from a deep sleep at midnight when she doesn't want to wake up and that she'll eventually start sleeping through to the morning and we just have to tough it out until then - allow her to go at her own schedule.

2. Put her down at 9 p.m. and let her sleep until she wakes up on her own at around 3. Feed her, put her down again until she wakes up around 7. Arguments against this one is that when she wakes up at 3, she's wide awake and difficult to get back to sleep (it can take up to almost 2 hours), and it's better to sleep "overnight" rather than getting used to waking up in the middle of it.

Which would you do and why?

We appreciate your help!

I would not wake a baby to feed. When the baby wakes is the time to feed her. Soon she will sleep all night and will have a good routine. If you start waking her to feed her she may Develop the habit

of being awakened and that could become a problem. You are fortunate that she sleeps so well. I would not interrupt that routine. Blessings to you and baby.

When my son was that age I just let the baby sleep until he was ready to eat again. I would not wake the baby up to feed him unless it was over 6 hours.

Hmmm. Tough one. That seems like a LONG time to sleep for an 8 week old, but also it is common for 2 month old babies to start to sleep through the night. I think she is fine. She will wake if she is hungry. Unless she is underweight I say it's fine, but I recommend you call your pediatrician and ask them to be sure.

she sleeps quite a long time for her age, thats good.personally i would stick to a regular bedtime for her,but then give a top up feed when you go to bed.shes still quite young,so i dont think you are spoiling her by waking her up before you go to sleep.at least you get a chnce to all go to sleep for a few hours at the same time.it worked for me with my son and will do same when i have next baby due in a few weeks
