Putting a stop to child labor?
Is there a way people can join together and put an end to child labor in sweatshops? Getting those children out of there?

We made a big stink[USA] about child labor in China a while back, stores were boycotted, letters sent, what ever...now those same children are getting food from garbage dumps or starving and dying of disease. Had we been more informed perhaps we would have minded our own business, and those kids would be eating. Not all countries have laws and organizations to protect the poor. Not all countries have schools. So it's better to attempt to understand an area, than to pounce in where we may not be wanted.

I agree that child labor is a scourge on civilization but in a lot of poor and developing nations it is the only alternative to starvation, street hustling and prostitution. Of the exploitative evils poor children in poor nations have to contend with, it seems to me that the opportunity given poor children to labor for their sustenance is the lesser of the evils and I am not absolutely convinced that banning child labor in those poor countries would be in the best interest of the children. Taking the lesser of the exploitative evil opportunities from those poor children would force a great many of them into street hustling and prostitution. Either that or their only other alternative. Starvation! The world is a cruel and unfair place and I feel bad for those poor children who labor and toil for their sustenance but given the alternatives, I think the cruelest and most unfair thing to do might be to take that away from them.
