There are many issues for which most voters have no strong opinion, one way or the other, and they rely on their elected officials to make the right decision.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the USA and to the REPUBLIC.... We are a republic which means people elect representatives to make decisions on their behalf. Most elected officials are Intelligent, honorable, hardworking, and out to do the right thing. This is true even of those who you do not agree with. Their are bad ones and their are many opportunities to serve their self interest instead of the public interest, but I don't think most do that.

The vast majority of people have no idea what laws are going through legislature, except for the one or two issues that pop up on the evening news. So, in effect, they are learning their politics from Katie Couric, who is reading whatever someone types on a prompter, instead of reading up on it themselves.

Everyone picks and chooses the issues that are important to them, then votes for the person they believe best equipped to fight for their chosen beliefs, and then rely's upon them for the rest
