Im Getting Guppies, Which Gender?
I read two male betta fish will fight, and kill each other. Now im going to get a pair of guppies. Im a beginner and don't know a lot. Should i get two female or two male guppies? Also could someone pick out a tank for me from Pets At Home. Im not a kid, so i don't want a kiddies one. Also, im not getting the biOrb tank. Rubbish! So thanks, from this website please http://www.petsathome.com/shop/fish/fish-tanks/ I don't want a huge aquarium. Just a small fish tank, around £50. Thanks! Oh and are guppies cold water fish?

Males are usually better to look at because they have more vivid colors and fins. If you get guppies, don't get 2. These fish (along with so many other small fish) prefer to be in groups of at least 5-6.
The only tanks that fit your budget are the kiddie ones. Sorry.
What's worse, 5-6 guppies need at least 48 liters or more (10 gallons) which is way out of your budget.
I suggest, take a tank that's above 20 liters, so you roughly have 5 gallons, and then you can get a Betta.
But remember you will need a heater, filter, gravel, light, plant, ornament, water conditioner, Betta food, net to catch him, etc.
Your budget will be pushed overboard.
If you have a bigger budget I would continue if not buy a 20ish liter tank for 1 male Betta, try to save up for the rest of the supplies.

There's nothing big enough within your price range if you want to have guppies. Sorry. :/ Guppies need a minimum of a 10 gallon (38 liter) tank. They are tropical fish and will need a heater. They are also very social fish and should be kept in groups of 5 or more. A 10 gallon could hold a group of 7 males and maybe a snail or some shrimp. However, if you can't afford the bigger tank, then don't get the guppies. I really encourage you to reconsider the bettas. Obviously you could only keep one, but these are awesome little fish with a ton of personality. I've got two bettas in different setups right now, plus I've got a little betta sorority going on at work, and let me tell you, not one of these fish is the same. They all have their individual quirks and are just so fun to watch and interact with. For a betta, a 10 liter or larger with a heater and small filter would be great. You could also keep a snail or some shrimp with one. I know bettas have a reputation for being boring and uninteresting fish, but this simply isn't true. A betta would be much more reasonable for your budget, and I really don't think you will regret it at all. :)

Guppies are awesome! If you are going for showy, males are the way to go. You should get maybe a 10 gallon for like (max.) 15-18 or so fish.
Something simple like this:

I couldn't find anything that simple on that site, mostly biOrbs...
Just remember, they don't live very long (usually about a year or two, maybe five years tops). You could invest in 1 female, which will give you a lot of baby guppies (fry), and if you don't want to keep them you could sell them or leave them (the females will eat them). You don't need to heavily plant your tank either. Just remember, if you do get a female, guppies are livebearers which means that they have babies, not eggs. Well, the eggs hatch inside the mother, so they give birth to live young.
Hope this helps!

You could get any kind of guppies, Male or female. It doesn't matter unless you want them to mate. if so, you can get a male and female. Also, 2 male betas do not do well together. They will kill each other. Two female betas will do fine together but I don't suggest getting any more than 2 betas at a time.
Guppies don't do well in cold water. I know because i used to have some guppies in cold water and they died nearly right away. I would get a heater and heat to about 78 degrees.
I hope I helped a bit! Good luck!

Guppies are tropical fish requiring a filter and a heater set at around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. You can get males or females. They won't fight. In most species the males have a more flamboyant tail and the females are duller. I recommend a Snake Skin (Cobra) guppy male. They have intricate spider web like patterns on their bodies and fins.

If you want nice fish get males.
If you want to see babies, get a mix of males and females. Male guppies continuously try to do it with the females. So get more females than males. Share the stress.

They will not fight. If you don't want babies, just get males, they're prettier. Why don't you want a biOrb? They really are great tanks. If you don't want a kid tank, and dont want to spend more than 50, you can't get anything off of that website.
At least research a biorb. They are great beginner tanks. Here's the link:

Guppies are not coldwater, they're tropical.

Hooray guppies! Go with males, they're prettier with more flowy tails. Also, they are a tropical fish, so you will need a heater for your tank. I don't know liters, otherwise I could help.
