anyone have a child going to Basic Training in Fort Sill Oklahoma on March 23, 2010?
I would like to be in communication with someone that has a child going to basic training at Fort Sill, Olkahoma. My daughter has enlisted in the Army and I am very nervous about the whole thing! I do support her choice though! Maybe this is something that will help me get through the whole ordeal!!
Believe me, there are no more apron strings!! Haha! She has been on her own for four years now! I have raised my children to be independant. But still, I am a Mom and I worry about my kids whatever they do!! Thanks for the encouraging statements! I am absolutely confident that the Army will take good care of her and that her journey will be safe!
She knows that I am very proud of her choice to defend the country we live in and our freedom! 100% supportive since she made the choice! I think it is awesome!!

I don't have a child at Fort Sill, but I am a former Army drill sergeant. I know its tough that your daughter is leaving for the Army, but she will be fine. You will see a huge in her when she comes home. If I can give you any advice it would be to support her completely. Let her know you love her and miss her, but if you show her how hard it is on you, it will be that much harder on her. When she is in training its important for her to be able to focus on that without worrying about home. Good luck and like I said, she will be great.

I have been down to that part of the state many times. It does get pretty hot in the summer there. Fort Sill, is one of the few, if not the only, frontier forts left. So, there is a lot of history there. I doubt you will have anytime to look around. Geronimo, Quanah Parker and many other famous Indians are buried there.

I had no clue they were doing it in Fort Sill now...
What happened to Relaxin Jackson and Leonard Wood?
It's a great choice, I served from 1999-2007 with some great women that made me proud to be a soldier. She will be fine.

MILLIONS of men and women have joined the armed forces and served safely and successfully! You just need to face the fact that your child is grown and leaving home.
