What kinds of natural fluids can help de-tox my system?

Getting older and had or have an alcohol problem. I'd like to clean myself up so to speak. I'm not trying to get healthy over night and I'm not trying to beat a urine test for drugs...I don't drink anymore, I just want to live better. I bought vitamins and a detox kit for like 'overall' cleansing but its like 7 pills a day....that doesn't seem right. Any ideas, serious ideas. I don't drink lots of colas and coffees.....

    9.5 ph machined water, miso soup, grapefruit and prune juice and aloe. Alfalfa, milk thistle, and passionflower teas. Then just juice organic fruits and veggies like beets, carrots, broccoli, and alfalfa.

    Some of the programs for detox are great, don't know which one you're using. Metagenics seem to be very good, I've had good results and so has my sister's family.

    For good detox though, you usually need to change your diet while you're taking the pills, etc. For example:

    - most grains and therefore breads, cereals and pastas are out. Brown rice is in, and most things made with brown rice

    - all dairy products are out, use soy products instead, or rice milk

    - no red meat, but chicken and fish are fine

    - as much as you like of most fresh fruit and vegies, but keep your fruit down to 3 pieces a day

    - plenty of water, preferably filtered or natural spring water

    If you want to do this properly, then I suggest you get Dr Sandra Cabot's books on the Liver and Bowel Cleansing Diet. These were written a while ago, so she doesn't eliminate most grains for example, but she has some great recipes.

    Every morning I juice:

    - 1 small beetroot

    - 1 small apple

    - 3 med carrots

    - 2 stalks celery

    - 1 bunch parsley

    - 1 clove of garlic (not the chinese stuff)

    - 4 leaves spinach

    - 1 lemon (whole)

    Sounds weird but it tastes wonderful. This is taken from the above books.

    Good on you for wanting to get healthy. It makes a huge difference to every part of you, including your moods.

    I would drink the vitamin water because you have the electrolytes put back in your system also to keep you going and it still cleanses with water. That's why people who work out like drinking it so much.

    Good decision, hope you'll stick to it. Some friends recommended Siam Alpha PSP. It is for sale here in Thailand in some shops in Bangkok. You can also order from www.wellness-asia.com. It's not cheap, though. I used it myself for a couple of months, having another health problem. I was quite happy with it. Maybe worth giving it a try.

    stop the coffee!!

    Try nettle tea, dandelion coffee, any yogi teas (especially the detox tea), green tea.
