Moving to Tasmania what's involved?

My wife and I are thinking of moving from Sydney to Tasmania in 2+ years. We are moving for somewhere quiet with city type convenience (movie theatres, resturants and city type shopping hours e.t.c) as well as the cooler climate. Looking through Seek it seems that most of the work is around the larger cities such as Hobart, Launceston and Devonport. We are wondering what's involved as in costs, moving difficulties, rental situation (at least intially), job situation outside of what Seek says as well as living costs. We are also interested in what each place offers as far as Drs (I have a chronic illness that requires regular specialist visits), shopping...that is essentials shopping with the odd luxury, entertainment and general lifestyle. We have visited each place recently and fell in love with Tassie instantly.

We moved to Hobart from Sydney 5 years ago and it was a great decision.

Hobart offers the largest job market (although if you have medical or a few other specialty qualifications there are jobs almost everywhere), try the state Govt jobs website in addition to the commercial online sites.

Housing costs and fresh local food cost are much lower, groceries and petrol higher, electricity can also be more expensive especially if you are relying on it for heating, didn't have too many difficulties moving but already had a house here to move into.

Lifestyle is one of the main attractions, Hobart gives you time back into your life that the big cities take in commuting We live in an inner city suburb with bushland a short walk away and views but only takes a 20 minutes walk to work, and get to grow a large amount of our fruit and vegetables. All the basic essentials are here but for a few special things most people take a weekend away in Melbourne

Medical services are good, better than most small cities but there are some conditions and procedures that take place in Melbourne, best to check and make sure.
