I know about my country Iran. The answer is a big "YES". The regime pretends that there are private media as well ( only newspapers and not any TV or Radio stations ) but as soon as they even very mildly criticize the government they are closed forever and the owner + the journalists working there are sent to the prison. Yet, the bastard Ahmadinezhad boasts that Iran has the freest media in the world!
