Sending package to Japan. Recipient requests an INVOICE but I am not the seller.?

A friend of mine who has a small busines in Japan is buying items here in the U.S. but the sellers will not ship directly to Japan. To solve this problem, all items will be shipped to my address here and I will consolidate and ship them to Japan via USPS Express Mail. Items will be declared correctly in the Customs Form --- so no problem doing it.

Here comes the real issue:

My friend asks me to include an INVOICE inside the box for valuation purposes. I am not the seller so I am hesitant to issue an INVOICE since I don't want to be in trouble with IRS. My understanding is --- if you issue an INVOICE that means you are the seller and you received or will receive payment of the items in the INVOICE. He only needs a very simple document but still it has a word "INVOICE" on it.

What should I do?

Ask the Seller to issue you an invoice, put that in the box
