Sims 3 won't stop saving?

I always have problems when I travel (Sims 3 World Adventures) with Sims closing itself, so naturally I save a lot. But it's been ten minutes of the saving timer twirling, and it still saving. Does anyone know what to do without potentially damaging the family? I've had my family's disappear so many times, the worst on of five generations, and I don't want to mess it up.

Thanks ♥

Hi there. Usually, when a computer sits idle like that for long periods of time, several possibilities have occurred:

    1. Your computer has frozen. If this is the case, then you will either have to open up Task Manager and end the Sims 3 process, or you will have to restart your computer.

    2. Your computer is taking an inordinate amount of time to do routine tasks. This usually means that the computer is either having troubles saving to where you want it to save, or that it is having problems within the hard drive. The hard drive could potentially be damaged or scratched right where it needs to save, which could cause it to have problems accessing that part of the hard drive. Usually, in this instance, I would suggest that you get up from the computer, walk away and do something else for like 10 minutes, come back, and it should have saved by then. If it hasn't at this point in time, then refer to the solution in possibility 1.

    Hope this helps :)

instead of hitting "save", choose "save as". name the family something differnt every time you "save as." this prevents the game from deleting your families.
