Using the appropriate thinner or paint manufacturer's thinner, a good start is 2 parts thinner to 3 parts of well mixed paint. This should give you a solid covering of paint with a smooth texture and opaque finish.
Increase the thinner if the airbrush sprays a rough texture or finish
Increase paint if the finish looks translucent.
Another crucial decider on how well the paint comes out of the airbrush is the air pressure - start off with 10psi and gradually increase the pressure to check the atomization of the droplets
Hope this helps
