I have a 1973 barracuda with a 318 and i want to put a 440 in it what do i have to do to make that happen?

you have to change the mounts in it and use the change over kit they make for it,and also change the torsion bars on it,and the transmission,i helped a friend of mine change his over,go to this site and get the mount kit for it,plus you,ll need a really good built 727 transmission for it,you also need cross member for it plus the exhaust,but its worth the trouble to change it over,good luck on it,i have done it a few times and if you need more info on it let me know i have sources for all the parts you need, http://engine/ swaps.com

You need to find the transmission ID plate on the side above the pan. Then find out if the 440 will fit that transmission.

But I see the 1970 - 1974 series had a 440 option standard, so most likely it would fit fine.

318 is a small block so you probably have to change the transmission and the motor mounts. also probably the exhaust won,t bolt up to the manifolds either.

You have a lot of work putting that heavy motor in that small car but it is well worth it! Take some measurements of the motor side by side to see if the motor mounts are the same - use heavier springs & bigger radiator.

Why?? 318 good engine, tri-pac, hdrs, mild cam, have heads ported and relieved, thats all you

need. 440 big and ugly, fuel manangement poor and it will feel up engine compartment, stick?

Oh it,ll fit no problem....You have to change the tranny also...Just because you have a small block tranny now if it,s an auto...Check out www.engine-swaps.com for your engine and tranny mounts...Your looking at about 160.00 for engine mounts...Also www.440source.com can help with the 440 you want to put in....MOPARS RULE!!!!!!

Get some big block engine mounts and it should drop right in.
