I believe it is about 5 years, but it also depends on if another rookie comes into the team early but i believe it is 5 years

When he's been around for 10 years.

Matt Kenseth, Dale Jr, Jeff Burton, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Kevin Harvick are all veterans.

I don't think being a veteran matters in the N-wide series. Too many guys only race part time.

For the trucks, when they get a permanent ride for 3 years. So Matt Crafton, Ron Hornaday, Todd Bodine - veterans.

Sure any driver that has raced for several seasons is a Veteran, but if you just ride around out back all your career then it's not pushing the limits and meeting goals. So for me personally I think after he has raced for a couple seasons, had a big crash, a big rivalry and a big win then and only then do they grow that thick skin and can be called a Veteran driver. I would say five years in the sprint series or nationwide series. It takes time to learn the tendencies of the the other drivers, and to gain their respect as someone who's not gonna wreck the whole field on a dumb mistake.

When a driver has learned to drive without wrecking everybody on the track. When a driver has learned to control his temper when he gets wrecked and doesn't retaliate. When a driver doesn't knock everybody out of his way to gain positions during the race and when a driver has good manners when they talk with the press.

if he can survive his first race without damaging either car or other drivers or bringing out the caution flag , then he is truly a veteran , now he can go on to better things , cheers

I would say going into their 3rd year. The 1st year, they are a rookie of course and then the 2nd year, they aren't a rookie anymore, but they aren't a veteran yet either. I say 3rd year and beyond.
