You should start at Sled Dog Central they have a pretty active discussion forum with a whole section devoted to dryland mushing.
They also have a great lost of suppliers by region.

Minimally you need harness, gangline, a brake (very important), collars, necklines, and a cart for the dogs to pull. some of this equipment can be found used if you know where to look for it. You also need trained dogs at first. To just hook up six untrained dogs to a cart is inviting disaster and injury. You might want to find someone in your area who does this so that you can get the proper training.
Don't listen to the natsayers who think this is cruel. Dogs love doing this. If they didn't they wouldn't do it for all the food in the world nor could you beat them into sled dog racing.

Google for dog sled racing in your area. I've never heard of dryland racing - but you can speak with other racers and get their opinion.
I think you can also try dog carting. Where dogs pull carts and that can be done on dry land. That may be an option for you. Google for that in your area too.

alot of equipment, lol,
here have a look at this,http://www.snowpawstore.com/dog-scooters/dog-scoot... and times it by 6,
here is a closer look at a rig,http://www.culpeppers.co.uk/catalogue/?cat=rigs
and this is a gang line, http://www.snowpawstore.com/sled-dog-equipment/sle... it connects the dog to the rig,
to put it all down is alot, easy to copy and paste,
and for you is just a good pair of hiking boots, not loose fitting pants but good hard wearing ones, a helmet and a maybe gloves,
good luck and hope its enought ifno xx
ha ha, agree with the 2 below,
please!!, running and pulling is wot huskys and malamutes are born to do, its cruel to keep these kind of dogs as normal pets and confined to just a small back yard or inside all day, obviously you have never meet any of these kind of dogs, or seen them in action, they love to pull and more so to run, i know as i have one of both and they would wreck my home if they couldnt get out, and dryland racing is just the same as it is with snow, only we use a rig with wheels and not a slegh, dherr! they are one of the oldest know working dog breeds, go complain about a famer and his collie rounding up sheep, is that cruel to make them run after sheep allday? no! thats wot they are breed for and its in their blood, working dogs work and not sit around allday fussing about things they not much about,

Really can't believe these people who say it's cruel - obviously they've never seen these dogs working!

I think that racing the dogs over land in=s a cruel thing to do.They are bred as working dogs but pulling a sled over snow is completely different thanpulling one on dry ground. It would be very strenuos for the dogs and if not done properly it could case irreversible damage to the dogs. If you are asking strangers on yahoo for advice on what typoe of equipment you need, it tells me that you have no experience at all an that more than likely you are going to tie house pets to a sled and expect them to be able to pull your weight. I highly doubt that thier owners took the time to train them for sled races. You need to find another project to do, on that won't endanger the lives of innocent house pets.

You "all need" nothing. Just don't do it. Sled racing dogs is a sad sport and as bad as it is on snow I'm sure dry land would be more strenuous for them. Do another project that doesn't involve the exploitation of animals.
