Why does my pet rat shiver?
I saved one of my pet rats (Wii) about four years ago (yes shes four now!) and ever since she was a baby she would shiver and brux. I understand the bruxing meaning she is very content but the shivering? It's almost like she is so happy she shivers! I am not very concerned about it being something bad, I have always just wondered about it. Thanks =]
haha thanks I don't just have one rattie girl! I have four ! They are Wii Be Jammin', Boo Ratley, Luna Bean, and Remy! I also have two guinea pigs Spike and Angel and Five Kitties Snickers, Tigger, Munroe, Peaches and Tyson and one turtle Sunni
I swear its a zoo here!

Don't worry about that at all! My rattie, Guiness, bruxes so hard when hes happy that he vibrates too, like hes purring. Kinda cat-like (:

She might be in pain. It is uncommon until near the end of life but rats will brux if in pain or frustrated.
However if her eyes are just bulging in and out nothing to worry about. That is normal. However please be on the look out for illness.Feel around her body for tumors. And look if her joints are swollen(rats can get atheritis-mine had it) If she doesn't have any she should be fine.
I have had a rat live to be 5 it is uncommon, but a tumor is what took him from me. He bruxed a lot at the end of his life- I was unaware at that point that it could also mean pain. I like massaging my rats jaws. ^^;
