"Problems are opportunities"...in what way are they opportunities?

In business, problem creates an opportunity to innovate, and to sell ideas and new products. 3M for instance, was able to develop the Post It notes when one of its executives had a problem marking the page of a church songbook/hymnal. He thought of a paper that will stick to a surface without damaging it.

Problem--> weak (rejected) adhesive + paper --> post-it notes

On a personal side, it's an opportunity for an individual to learn, to grow and strengthen ones self. We learn more about ourselves, such as our strengths and limitations, when we face problems and attempt to solve it. It helps us to develop our coping mechanism and ones we are able to overcome the problem, we become a stronger person.

Perhaps if someone has a problem that you can solve or have experienced and found a solution for, then your help could be an opportunity to assist.

this may also serve you as a wake up call that something is wrong and diversion is needed.

it really depends on what kind of problem one may encounter.

for those who love food and cooking, they may think it this way.

but to those who are trained in the art of killing, this is the best clean way.

You cannot immediately conclude that problems are opportunites. Problems are problems (good or bad) wherein you have to drain your expertise, patience and knowledge. You can only conclude a problem as opportunity if in the end, you will gain fruits of your labor in solving it.

Opportunities:

a. for Looters: steal goods

b. for politicians: to show their "acts of charity", publicity, to pocket part of the funds alloted for the calamity victims

c. for other people: to help others who were less fortunate

d. for schoolers: to have fun while there is no school or do a project which has backlogged

e. for teachers: to have a rest

f. for proprietors: raise their prices exhorbitantly

They are an opportunity to show how smart or how dumb you are
