1. Power off the computer;
2. Keep the computer plugged in;
3. Remove the left-side and right-side panels from the computer (this may necessitate removing other panels first, but most cases have a detachable single panel for each side, or a U-shaped case for both sides);
4. Remove the hard drive's ribbon cable and power connector;
6. Assess whether you can remove the 3.5" bay enclosure from the computer tower itself (if you can, do this and set the enclosure down on top of the power supply);
5. Locate and remove the four (or less) screws securing the drive to its bay;
6. Assess whether you can remove the drive by sliding it forward, or backward (if forward, ensure the way is not blocked by a removable sheetmetal plate or the plastic faceplate on the front).
7. Keeping one hand on the computer frame, grasp the drive by its outer (metal) casing and slide it out partway.
8. Ready an anti-static bag;
9. Still keeping one hand on the frame, grasp the drive by its outer casing and, while avoiding touching the printed circuit board on the underside, slip it into the anti-static bag and tape it shut.
10. Put the anti-static bag into a shock-resistant container (e.g. a box lined with foam rubber, a styrofoam shell sized to fit the drive, or simply wrap it multiple times in bubblewrap.

If you mean trying to boot with this hard drive, that is not going to happen - wrong motherboard drivers. If you mean hooking up this drive as a slave and trying to read it after booting into XP, this is possible. Now, if you formatted that drive, the only way to recover files off it is with very expensive software.

dont listen to all those oher answers. ok, first you will have to look for a button or lever or something that lets you get into the cache of your computer (cache - inside of). from their you should see a big block thing. it should be like 6 inches in height and 1 inch in thickness. remove the plugs from that. if you can send me a picture or give me a name for the specific modelof the computer, i can help you out even more.
