A few. Got hit by a car a couple times. The first one was in 1984. Lady was distracted by her kid who wasn't in a car seat and she nailed me. Bike and car were both totaled. I was "lucky"; no broken bones, but spent a week in the hospital with a concussion and lots of cuts and lacerations. They stopped counting the number of stitches and I still have a huge scar on my back. The second one wasn't so bad. A guy in a van came a little too close and whacked me with his side view mirror and sent me and the bike flying. No damage to the bike, just some nasty road rash on my leg.

Some other minor accidents were someone walking out from between two parked cars right into my path; a guy making a right turn in front of me and cutting me off. One time, I rode a little too close to the edge of the road and my front wheel clipped the curb. I went right down and landed on the handlebars. I might have fractured a rib; I never got it checked out, but I was in some serious discomfort for several weeks.

Helmet has saved me many times.

And after all this, I'm still riding......

Riding a bicycle has a similar saying as motorcycle riders... "There are only two types of cyclists in this world; those who have had a crash - and those who will." I've been in both. I gave up on motorcycles years ago.

Many times in my neighborhood, despite a 'bike lane', I've had cars pass me then make an immediate right turn dead in front of me. Went over the handlebars once. Just yesterday, twice pedestrians walked off the curb without looking! I could go on & on & on...

And BTW...I don't call them 'accidents'. Accidents are non-preventable - like an act of God. I call them wrecks. Wrecks are preventable because someone screwed up.

Hit a dog while speeding down a hill in the drops playing Lance A. Compound collarbone fracture, concussion, road rash. I'm much more cautious now. The helmet is why I still have enough sense to type this.

I fell off so hard my knee was scraped to the bone 3 years later the scar is still gnarly! Also? Watched my boyfriend get hit by a bus on hid bike - the bike saved his life but he still got road rash! Plain vitamin e oil helps heal scars ...

this happended in jan of this yr. ok i just fixed up my old schwinn supermatic that was sitting outside for yrs so anyhow i had it fixed for few weeks and i go hauling azz accross the street and hop up on the side walk and just praticly flying going about 15 miles per hour and all a sudded my handlebars drop down and i got FLYING over the bike and i smack my head into a cinderblock wall and then i dropped down into a bunch of small pocky rocks. so after about half a minute i manage to get back up still dazed from what happened but luckily i didnt pass out. but anyhow i walk back to my house which is just right accros the street and i look in the mirror and my hole left side of my face is just dripping in blood and covered in rocks. so i take a shower suffering thrue the stinging pain and i decided to go to the hospital which i am very glad i did. anyhow after waiting for about 2hours with no pain killers they finally start working on my face and what they did was litterly poured alchol on the HUGE wounds and were taking tweezers and picking out the several small rocks and cleaning up my other wounds on my legs and still given no paint killers. then they started to stick up my several wounds were hurt very bad as the several shots of novicain they gave me didnt kick in yet. there were a total of 17 stitches and i also found out that i broke my left wrist and my left shoulder joint. after months of haiving the cast and 2weeks of stiches and bandages they took them off and resulting from the accident i know have a scar on my face in a few places but it makes me look more of a badazz. btw im 6ft tall 220lbs and 13yrs old. also i DID NOT have a helmet and very much wish i did.

First of all it's "A bike accident" not "AN bike accident". And no, I have never had a bike accident before.
