Should government mandate everyone eat 5 servings of fruit/vegetables a day?

Will they require we submit receipts to prove we have been eating our fruits and vegetables since after all that is very important to the human being probably moreso than having insurance? They can fine those who lie (they can have snitches report and get rewarded if they submit proof someone's not eating the recommended amounts). They can require everyone be registered to purchase from regulated fruit stands who can keep track on everyone's diets.

Update:

The government regulated fruit stands would start charging $5/apple just like how they have monopoly over oil and new health insurance :)

Mandates are perfectly constitutional for a legitimate public purpose. Your scenario does not represent an public purpose. The nation has no need or legitimacy to control your diet, but as long as the nation is on the hook for your health care (and it is for everyone who 'chooses' not to have insurance) than the nation can require you contribute. You may think a mandate is unconstitutional, but a tax is not. Succeed in killing the mandate, then it will be replaced by a tax where you will not be able to decide what insurance to buy.

I think we should take this nanny state to it's final ending, no one cooks or eats at home, giant community kitchens, with ration cards etc. No sweets, candy, soda, beer, cigars. America a no smoking nation, no smoking, no drinking, no red meat, no women, unless of course you are married.

No and that is not funny. If the government's role in health-care grows as liberals would like it to that is exactly what will happen. Our diets and exercising habits will be dictated to us from DC in the name of the common good..

It looks like they have already hooked people like Shazza..

have you ever been to any other country with univeral health care? if so, then you know you are lying because no other developed country is like that.

Yes, today liberals will say you are a crazy alarmist. Tomorrow they will be demanding exactly what you are saying.

And maybe they should outlaw cheese for certain groups that seem to be a bit constipated over this issue.

It would certainly benefit you and the rest of society if they did. It would make the cost of our health care much less too!
