You can do a "Save As" then choose ".txt" as the extension. In Word, in the open dialog box, make sure you look for the file ext ".txt". This will remove all your formatting, though, but still less time than re-typing completely.

Download Solid PDF Creator. This program has an unlimited free trial that will let you use it with no watermarks placed on the document.
Once you have it installed, print the CV to the printer driver of the program (you will see it in the printer dialog that opens when you use the print option in excel).
If you want to convert it to Word from there, you can do so by using Solid Converter PDF or you can use www.freepdftoword.org to convert the PDF to a Word file, but as long as you have it in a PDF you should be ok.

There is no easy way to do this from Excel to Word.
Start a new word doc and then copy and paste across the bits you want. It shouldn't take long as you have the contents and look you are after already, so it shouldnt take 5 hours again.
Don't waste your time looking for an answer to this, just open a word doc and start pasting, you'll be done before you know it.
Word is definitely the way to go with this, pdf is something that website may use, but it is going to be a pain for you to update, going forward.

There is a simple method for you to convert your spreadsheet into PDF format, you just need to open the file and select "File->Print", choose "A-PDF Creator", then your spreadsheet will be converted to PDF format as quickly as possible.
