I'm a Palestinian, and I was born when the Palestinian revolution was in full affect. So my parents named me Thaer, which means rebel. I like my name, but as God blessed me with getting closer to Islam I now feel it's best that I change my name to an Islamic name. I intend on changing my name to Mustapha after one of the Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H names, I like it more than my current name anyway.
PEACE!!!!

Apparently, it means "blessing of god" in Arabic (Anum).
Its kind of ironic given my actual status regarding religion but still...its a unique name and everyone goes all ooohh and ahhh when I tell them the meaning.
However, I told the meaning to one person and he started ranting and raving saying that wasnt correct and that was not its Arabic meaning etc.
I have googled it and my search says that is the meaning.
My family has told me it is the correct meaning.
So perhaps someone here can help:
Does Anum really mean blessing of god or some variation of that?
Or does it mean something else?
Thanks!
