why do mini laptops have recovery cd's/installation cd's?

Question

I need to find a small laptop/notebook but small enough to also have a cd drive as well... but ive realised that most mini laptops dont have cd drive.. then why do they have a cd that comes with it in the box... can somone help me find  a notebook,, i dnt care if its mac or whatever... but its gotta be 10"-14" It would be good if it had a cd drive and atleast 2gb ram.... thanku thanku thanku
oh and if anyone mentions one.. plz put the price.. or the link or something... i live in sydney btw

because you wer elooking at NETBOOKS not NOTEBOOKS.. here is a good oone with 14 inch screen :) its small and cheap with a DVDRW drive
